This is a classic Irish Tweed Wool Driving Cap from Mucros Weavers that hasn’t gone out of style for over 100 years. Inspired by the caps worn by chauffeurs during the 1910s and 1920s, this hat features a classic eight-panel design with long brim and studded fastener at the crown, giving the hat an instantly recognizable silhouette and everyday practicality.

The exterior is woven from 100% Irish wool tweed and the interior is lined with 100% cotton to make it extra warm whenever the temperature starts to drop. The herringbone pattern is a true Irish staple and traces its roots to Donegal around the turn of the century, when weavers began to experiment with geometric design and adding colored flecks of yarn for extra style. Those flecks are scattered throughout this traditional fabric.

For over 30 years, Mucros Weavers has used traditional spinning and weaving techniques to craft some of Ireland’s finest woven apparel and accessories. Located at Muckross House in the luscious Killarney National Park in County Kerry, Mucros prides itself in taking inspiration from the natural landscape and gardens that surround its craft workshop. Each piece is designed by John Cahill, a master weaver with over 35 years experience in the trade, and is quality tested for comfort and durability.
