We have carefully selected the finest Harris tweed bags and purses, all made with the authentic yarn from Scotland. Harris Tweed is artisanally handwoven, dyed, and spun from pure new wool in the picturesque Outer Hebrides of Scotland by local craftsmen to ensure our customers receive only the authentic pieces of Scottish textile. For generations, the islanders of Lewis, Harris, Uist, and Barra have handwoven this premium and all-natural cloth, locally called clò-mòr ("big cloth" in Scottish Gaelic). Originally produced by crofters, this woolen material was intended for personal use as it provided excellent insulation in the colder climate of the North of Scotland. Later on, Harris Tweed was exported to the Scottish mainland and traded along with other commodities produced by the islanders, and eventually became a type of currency.
